Buddha Jayanti is celebrated to honour the life of Lord Buddha; his Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana (Death). Around one hundred and sixty- seven bihars are situated at Lalitpur In LMC, Buddhists of all persuasions as well as pilgrims from abroad, honour the Buddha of the four Ashoka stupas. Activities at the main Buddhist stupa, shrines, and bahabahis begin at dawn and continue till late in the evening. The Buddhist flag is raised above the chariot with the idol of Buddha inside it and paraded in the streets by monks and devotees.
